Description

Familial lifelong persistent fever is an extremely rare condition characterized by a persistent fever of 102o F with no diurnal variation. It is postulated that the condition is due to a defect in beta-glucuronidase activity.

Herman et al. (1969) described two twin brothers, born in a multiply consanguineous family, wit a persistent temperature of a persistent temperature of 102 °F. No apparent cause for the fever was discovered, which could be reduced by oral administration of dexamethasone, glucuronic acid, its precursors, its metabolites and galacturonic acid.
