Bassam R. Ali is currently the Professor of Molecular and Genetic Medicine and the Coordinator of the PhD programme at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University. Prof. Ali received his BSc and MSc degrees from Yarmouk University in Jordan and PhD degree in biochemistry from Cambridge University in 1994. He then worked at Kent University, UCL and Imperial College London for over 10 years before joining UAE University in 2006. Prof. Ali published over 110 original articles and reviews on human genetics, genomics, biochemistry and cell biology in international refereed journals and participated in numerous scientific meetings. Prof. Ali has recently been awarded the 2018 Khalifa Education Award as the Distinguished University Professor in the field of Scientific Research. In addition, Prof. Ali is the winner of the 2014/15 UAEU scholarship Award and the 2010/11 College of Medicine and Health Sciences Distinguished Research Award. Prof. Ali supervised many postgraduate research students and he is on the editorial board of several international scientific journals and acted as an expert reviewer for numerous biomedical journals, government and funding agencies. Prof. Ali is member of the executive board of the Golden Helix Foundation, London, UK and the Centre for Arab Genomic Studies, UAE. Details of his scientific work can be found here.
