Prof. Wassim Almawi is currently appointed as Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at El Manar University (Tunis, Tunisia), and Professor of Pharmacology at Lebanese American University (Byblos, Lebanon). This followed appointment as Professor & Chairman of Biochemistry Department, Arabian Gulf University (Manama, Bahrain), Associate Professor, Haigazian University (Beirut, Lebanon), Assistant Professor, American University of Beirut (Lebanon), Assistant Professor; University of Western Ontario (London, Canada), and Lecturer Harvard University (Cambridge, USA). He is also the Director of Molecular Diagnostics service at Al-Jawhara Center for Molecular Medicine (Manama, Bahrain), and Chief of Special & Molecular Diagnostics unit at St. Georges University Hospital (Beirut, Lebanon). In addition, he is an Associate Editor in Gene, Meta Gene, Biotechnology, Journal of Hypo & Hyperglycemia, Mediterranean Journal of Hematology and Infectious Diseases, and Journal of Molecular & Genetic Medicine.
He is the recipient of continuous research support for the past 25 years, and author/co-author of 276 peer-reviewed publications, 6 book chapters; and presenter of >110 communications at international conferences.
His research specialties include medical education, polycystic ovary syndrome, diabetes research, and hemoglobinopathies.
